The Adapt Programme

The Adapt Programme is a European Union funded initiative running from late 1998 to the end of the year 2000.

Adapt aims to contribute to the development of the workforce to industrial change, and to improve the working of the labour market with a view to growth, employment and the competitiveness of companies in the European Union.

The Adapt Programme aims to encourage companies to motivate their own employees to take an active interest in developing their skills. By continually updating vocational skills, individuals will increase their employability and additionally, the employer will benefit by enhancing staff potential and developing a more competitive workforce.

The programme is specifically aimed at :

Employees of small businesses threatened with redundancy
Redundant employees who have been unemployed for less that six months
Workers who have involuntarily moved to part time work, and workers with the potential to be employed in newly created jobs after re-training.
