Achieving Our Aims

Often individuals are totally unaware of the range of courses and facilities available to them on the Island and the Learning Island Partnership will raise the profile of what is available through various methods. The Partnership will work together to produce a series of programmes on educational and training opportunities available on the Island. Programmes will be broadcasted for a minimum of four times targeted at small businesses and individuals already working but whose skills may be facing redundancy in the future. A helpline has been established which will act as a 'one stop shop' for advice and guidance on training and educational courses available for working people on the Island. Establish a Video Library of the 200 programmes with accompanying fact sheets. Accompany community programmes with back up support from the County Press, IW Radio and awareness raising campaigns. Develop an integrated Learning Island Partnership Web site with links to all partner web pages. Ensure site provides relevant and comprehensive information on training and education support available on the Island.

Ensure that project integrates its campaign with all other Island programmes ie Life Long Learning Partnership, Isle of Wight Partnership.
Establish at least three employer sector groups (Hospitality/Leisure, Retail, Horticulture). These will assist: Pilot ICT training to at least 18 employees of six small businesses in order to evaluate the effectiveness of new methods of training delivery.
